Q: is Ppy just for dancers?

A: No! Although PPY is founded by a professional dancer and Pilates is often used by dancers to refine their bodies and technique for the demands of dance, classes at PPY are for EVERYONE! You may notice a lot of dancers and performers do attend classes at PPY, but rest assured that classes here are for people from all walks of life, and all ability levels.

Q: should i be in level 1 or level 2 classes?

A: If you consider yourself to be a 'beginner' or have never done Pilates, Yoga or Barre before, you may like to attend Level 1 Classes and then move up to Level 2 if you're up for more of a challenge. Classes are always catered to the level of who is in them on the day, however you can expect Level 1 classes to be of lower impact, lower intensity, and of a slower pace than Level 2 Classes. If the class that you would like to attend is not the Level you would prefer, simply notify your trainer and they will give you progressions or regressions of the exercises to suit your level.

Q: what sort of results should i expect to gain from training at ppy?

A: Training at PPY can help you in many different areas. Common results include decreased body fat, increased flexibility, greater body awareness, increased strength, improved muscle tone and over all improvements in fitness and stamina. If weight-loss or reduction in body fat is one of your goals, correct nutrition also plays a vital role in your results. Please have a chat to your trainer about how we can help you with your nutrition. 

Q: how many times per week should i train at ppy?

A: It's up to you! The amount of sessions per week you should be doing really depend on your goals.  Some clients attend PPY every day because they love it so much! If you need guidance on the amount of sessions and types of training you should be doing to reach your goals, please chat to your trainer and they will be able to advise you on what they think will work for you and your goals.


Q: why are there no 'yoga' classes on the schedule?

A: The 'Tone, Length, Strength' classes at PPY are a combination of Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and functional training. This unique blend of training styles is unique and effective! Occasionally we will offer specialty Yoga only workshops or sessions. Be sure to join our mailing list by entering your email at the bottom of this page to receive updates on when we will be running these Yoga sessions.

Q: what happens if i am sick or need to cancel a session?

A: If you have booked a group training session and need to cancel, you can do this through our online Mindbody booking system. Please ensure you cancel at least 7 hours before your scheduled session in order not to be charged, and have your class re-credited to your Mindbody account for you to use another time. Classes not cancelled within this 7 hour window will be forfeited. 

If you need to cancel or re-schedule a Personal Training Session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. 

Q: how can i pay for classes?

A: Our preferred payment method is online via credit or debit at the time of booking your session/s.

We do not carry cash change at the studio, so if you wish to pay in cash please ensure you have the correct amount. 

Weekly direct debit payments can be set up for clients who wish to for convenience. You can set this up online or chat to your trainer. 

You may also pay via credit or debit card in person at the studio.


Q: can i train at ppy if i am pregnant?

A: Yes you can. There will be some exercises that we will advise you not to do, so please do let your trainer know if you are pregnant. Also please let your trainer know if you have recently given birth. Its always a good idea to check with your doctor first about whether you should continue training while pregnant.

All ladies over 12 weeks pregnant will need to provide a letter from their doctor advising they are allowed to continue training. 


Q: What should i bring to my training session?

A: Just yourself! We have all the equipment you need such as Yoga mats, sweat towels and drinking water too. You may like to bring your own water bottle though. 

Q: what should i wear for ppy training sessions?

A: Comfy activewear. No shoes are required for our sessions. You may like to wear socks, but its best that they are 'toe socks' or socks with grip on the soles so you don't slip!

Q: i feel tired and/or sore after training at ppy. is this normal and what should i do?

A: Yes its normal to feel muscle fatigue after training. Some great ways to help recovery are to take a hot shower, stay hydrated by drinking water, and to ensure you are fueling your body with great nutrition.

Q: do you offer reformer pilates?

A: Yes, we have one Reformer. Reformer sessions are therefore available for Personal Training Sessions, as well as 'Fusion' sessions which are 2 clients to one trainer and involve a combo of Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates and Barre.


Q: how can i book a personal COACHING session?

A: Simply contact stef@performancepilatesandyoga.com or give here a call on 0425766552 to discuss when you would like your session. You can also book via the Mindbody booking system, but this can be tricky if its your first time booking, so any issues please simply contact us.
